~ Face Products I swear by…

FullSizeRenderIn this pic I have no makeup on. I anyways use no makeup on an every day basis with an exception of Kajal and even when I am dressing up, I use very little makeup. I get many compliments on my skin but like every other girl, I am unsatisfied with something or the other, and keep on trying new products. I feel like my facial skin has changed in the past couple of years, as it used to be oily and now it’s more like combination with some dry spots. I also have some dark spots near the mouth area and I think its coz I skip sunscreen sometimes… Oopz! I also often complain about visible pores and on and off some acne does show up too. I do not claim to be a skin specialist, actually in all honesty, I am far from that! I do however experiment with products and today I am sharing a list of some face products that always work wonders for me, they are as follows, in no particular order:

Garnier Face wash – Invigorating Daily Scrub:

This face wash with jojoba beads not only deeply cleans but also polishes to refine pores. The peppermint instantly wakes me up and energizes the skin for a healthy look. Having used this for months, my skin feels deeply cleansed and smoothed. It softens the skin and makes it looks healthy and revitalized.

Use: Daily as part of the morning routine.

Available at your local grocery stores.

Garnier Moisture Rescue Refreshing Gel Cream:

This comes in 2 options – one for normal/combo skin type and the other for dry skin. I use the one for normal/combo skin and it works wonders for my skin but for those of you with more dry skin, go for the dry skin option. The good thing about this cream is that it wears light and does not leave the skin feeling greasy. With continuous use, the skin feels hydrated and looks smoother.

Use: Daily.

Available at your local grocery stores.

St. Ives Pink Lemon And Mandarin Orange Scrub:

This is a scrub that I often use in place of the St. Ives Apricot Scrub, which was my go-to product before I found this one. This is more to exfoliate the skin as it gently polishes away little imperfections leaving the skin even-toned and bright.

Use: 1-2 times a week, as part of exfoliation routine.

Available at your local grocery stores.

Olay Regenerist Night Recovery Cream:

In my humble opinion, us women should start caring for our face early. Night creams moisturize and renew skin while we sleep to reduce appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, and this is my go-to choice. It has a nice scent and wears light and easy. You do not feel like you have something on your face when you go to bed.

Use: Daily.

Available at your local grocery stores.

Biore Deep Cleansing Pore Strips:

These come in multiple options, my favorite being the Deep Cleansing Charcoal Pore Strips simply because it not only unclogs the pores but also draws out excess oil for deepest cleaning. I like using this in the middle of my facial appointments as it gives me a clean feeling in the comfort of my own home.

Use: Once a month depending on how often you get blackheads.

Available at your local grocery stores.

Biore Self Heating 1 Minute Mask:

This product is like a mini-facial in just 1 minute! It is simple to use and leaves my skin feeling fresh. It is a thermal mask that heats up on contact with wet skin and melts away not only stress but also the oil and dirt that is clogging my pores!

Use: Once a week or once in 2 weeks. It feels good either ways!

Available at your local grocery stores.

Forest Essential’s Facial Tonic Mist:

I have been introduced to this product on my recent trip to India. This is one of the favorites of my sister and she bought me one and asked me to use religiously to see a good change in my skin. This product is from India’s leading brand of Ayurvedic products Forest Essentials. I use it after a face wash and the fresh scent calms me and soothes my skin, all in one. This product is available in multiple scents, I use the Bela one. My skin feels rehydrated and nourished. Forest Essential’s facial toners are made from floral, fruit and herbal extracts essential to the Ayurvedic philosophy leaving the skin hydrated, toned and revived.

Use: Daily (even multiple times a day, to feel refreshed and rejuvenated).

Available: In India.

Himalaya Herbals Purifying Neem Foaming Face Wash:

This product has been on my list off and on, depending on whether or not acne has been troubling me. This is a more drying face wash so I suggest you do not use if you have dry skin. I use it often during that time of the month when I have some breakouts. This product aims at cleansing the skin by removing excess oil and impurities. Neem is an Indian herb, well-known for its purifying and antibacterial properties and in this case kills problem-causing bacteria. In this product, it is combined with turmeric, which really helps control acne and pimples leaving your skin feeling soft, clear, refreshed and problem-free.

Use: Daily if you have oily skin or as needed when problematic acne appear.

Available: In India and also seen these in the Indian stores around Houston.

Himalaya Herbal Fairness Kesar Face Pack:

I am new to this product and picked it up on my recent trip to India because it intrigued me. I often do home masks (will share some in a separate blog post) using gram flour and turmeric among other ingredients from my kitchen. This product caught my eye because it uses Saffron (Kesar)!! Saffron is known for beneficial properties for the skin like lightening the skin, clearing spots enhancing the complexion and gives skin an even tone. It also contains turmeric, walnut, Indian aloe that rejuvenate and cleanse the skin removing all impurities to reveal a natural glow. Walnut and Indian Aloe are known to heal the skin and remove blackheads. Turmeric and Kesar in turn, enhance the skin’s complexion and elasticity. I finished one tube between March-May and asked my sister to get a new tube when she visited from India recently. Needless to say, I like this product a lot!

Use: Once a month in 2 weeks works wonders for my skin.

Available: In India and also seen these in the Indian stores around Houston.

With the Texas heat and sun, sunscreen is a must. I particularly like a light sunscreen with a high SPF which gets the job done while not suffocating the skin. I like Neutrogena or Banana Boat but I have been crazy about the FabIndia sunscreen my sister got me from India on her last visit, it smells lovely and goes on easy. Another sunscreen I am looking forward to trying this Lotus MatteGel Sunscreen that I have been hearing about from various Indian bloggers I follow. If you are going swimming or to the water park, definitely go for water proof, sweat proof sunscreen with high SPF for which Banana Boat and Neutrogena both have a variety of options available. I personally like the spray on sunscreen so I do not have to get my hands dirty and can use it on the go.

Use: Daily.

Available: Neutrogena and Banana Boat are available at your nearest grocery store. And the ones from FabIndia and Lotus are from India.

I hope this post of mine was useful and you got to learn about some new products. These are the ones I swear by so go ahead and give them a shot without a doubt! I would love to hear what’s on your list of products you swear by…
