~ My all time favorite High-End Perfumes: Part 1!!

Hey all you wonderful people!!!! How’s it going?! Today I am doing a fashion post, with a twist by sharing some of my all time favorite high-end perfumes with y’all.

Perfume, as defined by the dictionary is a fragrant liquid typically made from essential oils extracted from flowers and spices, used to impart a pleasant smell to one’s body or clothes. But in my opinion, it’s this and much more. A perfume becomes a part of your personality and people often recognize you or at the very least relate you with your choice of perfume.

For me, a perfume is an indulgence. An additional way to feel sexy and I for one, definitely do invest in lots of good perfumes and at a given time, have atleast 5-6 different perfumes on my dressing table.

What does “note” mean in perfumery??

Notes in perfumery are descriptors of scents that can be sensed upon the application of a perfume. Notes are separated into three classes; top/head notes, middle/heart notes, and base notes; which denote groups of scents which can be sensed with respect to the time after the application of a perfume.

– Top notes are perceived immediately upon application of a perfume, top notes consist of small, light molecules that evaporate quickly. They form a person’s initial impression of a perfume and thus are very important in the selling of the product.

– Middle notes are the scent of a perfume that emerges just prior to when the top notes dissipate. The middle note compounds form the “heart” or main body of a perfume and emerge in the middle of the perfume’s dispersion process.

– Finally, the base notes are the scent of a perfume that appears close to the departure of the middle notes. The base and middle notes together are the main theme of a perfume. Base notes bring depth and solidity to a perfume.

So without further ado, my list, in no particular order, is:

– Chloe by Chloe:

Fresh, smooth, comfortable and totally addictive. A sublime powdery rose.

Fragrance Notes:

Top: pink peony, freesia, lychee – subtle freshness.

Heart: magnolia flower, lilly of the valley, rose – sublimated femininity.

Imagine femininity, luxury and style – bottled. Expressing an aura of strength and beauty, glamour and confidence, this perfume is inspired by modern women.

Fragrance Notes:

This is the very first fragrance from Tory Burch and it captures classic elements in unexpected ways. Feminine and tomboy. Easy and polished. A bright and complex mix in a super-chic glass bottle with a signature fretwork top.

Fragrance Notes:

– Coco Chanel Mademoissel:

This fragrance by Chanel caters to the younger lot – girls in their 20s and 30s as it’s classy yet youthful.

– Dior Pure Poison:

A voluptuous musky composition based on white flowers such as orange blossoms. Once upon a time, there was a fragrance that was innocent yet captivating, sincere yet mysterious and that my friends was Dior’s Pure Poison. It incarnates seduction in its purest state by exploring its duality and irresistible alchemy. This fragrance was created to surprise and astonish, to let women assert their femininity with confidence.

Notes in a nutshell: Based on orange blossom, jasmine, gardenia, amber and sandalwood, this delicate yet generous modern potion reveals the seductress within.

– Coach Poppy:

A youthful and spirited fragrance, this Coach Poppy perfume calls attention to the fruity and floral aromas.

Fragrance Notes:

Top: Coach Poppy opens with bright cucumber, juicy mandarin and freesia buds notes.

Heart: Filled with aroma of jasmine, pink water lily, Southern gardenia, red candied rose petals and crème brûlée accord.

Base: A mixture of cedar wood, sandalwood, vanilla and marshmallow.

For those who dare to dream, the chance for romance was never greater! The decidedly young scent of Chance is unexpectedly sexy and floral.

Lemme make one thing clear, this is in no way an affiliate or marketing post and Birchbox has no idea I am writing this post. You know, I wish they did, haha!! That would simply mean some compensation in the mail in terms of makeup goodies! LOL!!

So what is today’s post all about?? Well, today I am sharing my experience with Birchbox and my thoughts on these makeup samples that I received for well over a year when I tried out Birchbox back in 2015-2016.

I heard about Birchbox from some of the blogger divas that I follow and thought to myself, why not give it a try?! Mind you, I am in no way as fancy as these diva bloggers and honestly hardly wear makeup on a daily basis. But the idea of getting a cute box in the mail every month for $10 a month sounded so chic to me that I jumped on the bandwagon. BUT what I forgot was that I wasn’t much of a makeup person to begin with and hence these boxes would be fun to receive but majority of the products would sit and collect dust – more of this below.

I started to receive my boxes and while I loved getting all these girly things in the mail, a lot of them were too expensive to buy when it came to full size products (available only on their website), and that too for not so famous name brands. You can see more on the brands they carry here: Brands.

Don’t get me wrong, I absolutely loved some of the products I received and even bought their full size items but these mostly included either fragrances, lip sticks and eyeshadow pallets. What completely went to waste was all those hair care samples coz I’m not a blow dry, straighten or curl-it-up kinda girl, I am more of a let this beauty air-dry kinda girl!!

So who is Birchbox for?!

If you love trying new makeup and hair care products and playing dress up, go ahead and sign up for Birchbox without a second thought! It’s $10 put to good use as you get a lot of good stuff and the size of the products makes it travel friendly too!! It’s also for all those women who want to pamper themselves.

In case you read my blog and give it a try, do let me know 🙂
