Packing tips:

Winter can be brutally cold in Tahoe, so the key is to dress in layers so you can be warm while outside and shed layers when you step indoors to be comfortable.

Thermal inner wear is a must if you are planning to go skiing, snowboarding or doing any other snow activities. Your local sports stores also have hand and foot warmer that you will be thankful for when it’s freezing and you are cold. I know for me, these are a life saver.

Definitely pack:

– Hoodies / Vests / Jackets: Key is to layer!

– Scarves: Your neck will thank you, trust me 😆

– Beanie: Ohhh yes!! An absolute must!

– Gloves: To keep those hands warm, ensure they are water resistant as that’s a key to keeping warm when doing activities in the snow.

– The outer most layer (especially when doing activities in the snow) should preferablly not be fleece, as when you play in the snow, fleece holds on to moisture and you’ll get wet and feel more cold.

– Donot carry overly large purses, and ensure your purse has a zip!!

Overall stay warm and have fun! Don’t forget to pack your adventurous side for some extra dose of fun 😉

Hope you enjoyed my post… Until next time, stay stylish!!

~ Scarf styling…

It was the 1st day of winter last week, and one of the most fun ways to brighten up your attire, especially in this weather (even though it’s been in the 80s here in Houston), is a scarf!!

Be it a cozy blanket scarf, an infinity scarf, a woolen one or just a fancy one, scarves are super versatile and can give your regular clothes an uplift and a new look.

If you follow me on Pinterest (Niti Shrivastava Shukla) you know how much I am obsessed with scarves and I have rubbed off this love of mine on the hubby as well. So in today’s post I am compiling a few of my favorite scarf style for men and women, so read on.

For Women:

These 5 styles are what I can call classics! You can’t go wrong with these, no matter what you pair them with.

For something more fancy, see the styles below.

As a general rule of thumb, don’t mix bold prints with bold prints! You don’t have to be boring, mixing patterns isn’t a bad thing, but just be careful that your patterns aren’t clashing. For the safest bet, spruce up a plain look with a printed scarf and a dark look with a bright scarf and vice versa – patterns look good with plain scarf and bright clothes go well with dark scarves.

For more tips on accessorizing you can check out my post ~ 7 Tips for Accessorizing….

For Men:

Who said scarves aren’t for men?! Men can be fancy and dressed up too!! Here are some styles for the man in your life.

These don’t have to be paired with a coat, as shown in the pic above. One can wear them with a sweater, a vest or for that matter even a jacket. Just be sure to not team up a scarf with a hoodie as you’ll have too much going on around your neck area and that won’t look good or be comfortable in the long run.

Lastly, don’t underestimate the power of a scarf, it’s a brilliant piece of clothing that comes in handy in the summers as well – a light weight scarf can keep you warm at the movies, or can double up as a sarong for that beach vacation you have in mind and I always carry a scarf with me while traveling coz the airports and the flights can be chilly at times!

I hope you enjoyed this post and are ready to rock scarves this season…

Here are some of my favorite stores to buy scarves at, the collection is ever-changing so you always have an excuse to buy more – Charming Charlie, Old NavyAEAeropostaleHallmarkForever21Cato FashionsRue 21 among others. Honestly, I pick them up from any place just depends on whether they are my style or not.
