In the spirit of the Indian Festive Season, my post today is about Ethnic Indian Fashion!! Ethnic wear incorporates all the Indian traditional categories of clothing worn by Indian women and men as the sign of our culture. It includes Saree, Salwar Kameez, Lehenga, Kurti for women and Kurta Pajama, Sherwani, Dhoti Kurta for men.

Yesterday was Karvachauth – it is a festival celebrated by Hindu women, where we married women fast from sunrise to moonrise for the safety and longevity of our husbands. This Karvachauth I wore a Sari, and will be posting details on that look soon, but for today, I am sharing some of my recent Salwar Kameez looks.

I wore this for a puja (prayer) gathering. This one was added to my collection on my recent trip to India, where I raided my sister’s collection of dress materials and got it stitched for myself.

I kept my jewelry simple with Journey Diamonds necklace from Kay Jewelers, earrings from Charming Charlie, a collection Kate Spade Bangles teamed up with my Kate Spade Watch and simple bedazzled flip-flops from Famous Footwear!

This was my look for Karvachauth 2 years ago (2014). This salwar kameez is from a boutique in Lucknow and is my mother-in-law’s choice. I love the simplicity yet festiveness of the baby pink color combined with silver details.

I wore this with my Mangalsutra, Kendra Scott Earrings, clip on nose ring and colorful bangles. My sandals are from Metro in Mumbai and they are the most comfortable Indian sandals I have ever owned!!

Here I am wearing 2 different sets, but combined the pictures based on the color combination for both being green!

The one on the left, is a recent addition to my wardrobe acquired yet again on my recent trip to Mumbai. I selected this out of my Mom’s dress material collection, because I fell in love with the color combination of green and purple on the duputta (stole). She got this dress material from a store called Rangoli in Mumbai.

I wore this with my Mangalsutra and colorful bangles, comfy sandals from India and earrings from Kuwait. The bangle with the bells is a gift from my Mommy! She’s the best 🙂

My look on the right is actually more in line with a Kurti and not Salwar Kameez. The Kurti I combined it with matching Churidaar but you can wear it with jeans as well. This Kurti is from an Indian store called Westside and was gifted to me by my mother-in-law.

I kept the look simple with my Kenneth Cole Watch, bangle with the bells, comfy Indian sandals, Swarovski Earrings accompanied by my Louis Vuitton Wristlet. The churidaar is from GoColors.

This was my Diwali look from 2014!! This suit is my sister’s choice and I got it from Shoppers Stop at the Inorbit Mall in Mumbai. I love the color combination of the kurta and chunni (stole) and absolutely love the yellow churidaar brightens up the whole look.

I kept the accessories simple with my Mangalsutra, Kenneth Cole Watch, comfy Indian sandals, Swarovski bangles (Bangle 1 and Bangle 2) and Swarovski Earrings.

This look is from the Baba Ramdev gathering in Houston, a couple of months back. I went for a more casual look, here my Kurti is from FabIndia, this particular one being from the store in Inorbit Mall, wore it with chunky metal bangles and my gold leaf necklace and Kate Spade Watch, keeping it simple. The churidaar is also from FabIndia.
